Customs Law No. 207 of 2020 aims to achieve a number of basic objectives specified in the texts of the law as follows:

1- Contributing to simplifying procedures to enhance governance and facilitate the business community.

2- Facilitating the movement of internal and external trade in achieving the strategic directions of Egypt's Vision 2030.

3- Improving Egypt's position on international measurement indicators in the areas of facilitating international trade.

4- Encouraging investment and doing business, in addition to encouraging national economic projects and facilitating international trade.

5- Approving electronic transactions instead of paper transactions, to simplify procedures and facilitate dealings and reduce customs clearance time.

The Customs Law aims to simplify and facilitate customs procedures, encourage national economic projects, facilitate international trade, increase governance of customs control procedures, maintain national security, and increase the degree of citizen satisfaction.

The executive regulations confirmed that they do not prejudice any exemptions stipulated in other applicable laws, and include the newly created customs systems that include free zones and special economic zones, without prejudice to any rights, benefits or guarantees granted to beneficiaries of these systems in accordance with the provisions of the laws related to investment and special economic zones.
