The coming period will witness the House of Representatives introducing amendments to the old rent law, and the amendments include a translation of the obligation issued by the Constitutional Court to reach a formula regarding the stability of the rent, during the period specified by the Constitutional Court until the end of the current fifth session, as the Council introduces amendments to create legislative balance in this regard.

The extension of the old rent contract raises controversy

Regarding the extension of the old rent contract, and will the House of Representatives introduce amendments to it or not? It has taken up a space in the discussions, and in light of it, MP Amr Radwish, Secretary of the Local Administration Committee in the House of Representatives, stated that the Parliament will be committed to the ruling of the Constitutional Court and will not exceed the ruling issued in this regard.

He noted that the House of Representatives will introduce its amendments to the issue of rental value, to approve an increase commensurate with the rented units, which MP Mohamed Attia Al-Fayoumi, Head of the Housing Committee, indicated will be according to the location of each unit and in which governorate it is located, in addition to the fact that the increase will be gradual.

Parliament's position on the extension of the old lease contract

But at the same time, MP Amr Darwish added, stressing that the Parliament will also be committed to the specifications of the Constitutional Court's ruling, and therefore will not address the issue of extending the lease contract to the first generation.
